Innovations in neurophysiology in the 21st century – Advances and previously unimagined
therapeutic options for diseases of the brain and nerves.
Tuesday, March 09, 2021, 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
The 21st century is a time of medical progress with new opportunities in the fight against incurable diseases. Clinical neurophysiology, which uses modern technical methods to decipher the function of the brain and nerves and its diseases, such as Parkinson‘s, Alzheimer‘s and epilepsies, is also currently accelerating its pace of innovation. Under development are such intriguing concepts as using electroencephalography data to detect neurological diseases before they become clinically apparent. Real-time data analysis also offers unprecedented possibilities: Combined with artificial intelligence algorithms, brain areas can be specifically modulated and controlled within milliseconds. Rapid digitization, worldwide exchange of data and knowledge, and new possibilities in molecular diagnostics are accelerating this development. The press conference will present fascinating and promising research approaches and trends from German clinics and laboratories - from basic neuroscience research to clinical applications.
